North Eastern Space Applications Centre is executing major Projects “North Eastern Region Node for Disaster Risk Reduction (NER-DRR)”, “Flood Early Warning Systems (FLEWS)” and “Doppler Weather Radar (DWR)”. The Projects involves development of decision support tools and organization of multi-scale national database.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following positions on temporary basis for a period of one year which can be further extended based on the performance of the candidate in the periodical reviews, for a maximum period of 03 (three) years in total or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier :

Pay Band : (PB-3 Rs 15600- 39100 + GP `5400)
Discipline : Environment
Qualification : M.Sc in Environmental Sciences/Forestry/Ecology/Botany/Geography or equivalent
Desired Credentials :
1) Experience on air pollution/ climate change studies, etc.
2) Knowledge on Remote Sensing and GIS programming
Note:
- Number of positions indicated above are provisional and may vary depending on the
actual requirement. - ME/M.Tech/MSc or its equivalent degree should be in first class with an aggregate
minimum of 65% or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 scale or equivalent. Rounding-off
marks is not allowed.
Age Limit:
35 years as on 09.09.2016 (40 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 38 years for OBC
candidates). Ex-serviceman and Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India orders. Candidates claiming age relaxation have to submit valid documentary proof.
Pay & Allowances:
Selected candidates will be offered the fellowship as Research Scientist in the Pay Band of
Rs 15600-39100 with Grade Pay Rs 5400/-. The gross emoluments in the minimum of Pay Band will at present be approximately ` 47250/-. In addition HRA at the prescribed rates in force at the place of posting will be paid.
Selection Process:
The qualifications prescribed in this advertisement are the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make candidates eligible to be called for interview. Based on the experience and details of marks furnished by the applicants, the candidates will be shortlisted for interview.

General Conditions:
- The number of posts notified is provisional and may vary depending upon actual
requirement. - NESAC/DOS reserves the right not to fill up all or any of the posts, if it so decides.
- These Research Scientist positions are purely on temporary basis for a period of one year
which can be further extended based on the performance of the candidate in the periodical
reviews, for a maximum period of 03 (three) years in total or co-terminus with the project,whichever is earlier. - The position of Research Scientist will not confer any claim or right for
regular employment in NESAC and the service of Research Scientist are liable to be
terminated without any notice and without assigning any reasons thereof. - Research Scientists will be encouraged to register for PhD with respect to their fields.
- Research Scientists are eligible for total Leaves (including Casual Leave) of 30 days in a
year, in addition to general holidays declared by NESAC. Maternity Leave as per Govt. of
India instructions would be available to all female Research Scientists. - Candidates called for interview will have to produce all relevant original documents in proof of details furnished in their applications along with a set of attested Xerox copies at the time of interview. In case any information furnished in the application is found to be wrong or false, the candidate will not be interviewed.
- Candidates already in employment under Central/State Government, Public Sector
Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies required to bring “No Objection Certificate” from the
employer concerned, at the time of interview failing which the candidate will not be
interviewed. - The selected candidates may likely be posted in NESAC, Umiam, and Cherrapunjee,
Meghalaya. However the NESAC reserves the right to post the candidates anywhere in India as and when required. - Only Indian Nationals should apply.
