Short Description:
At Gagva P0 facility we carry out outdoor research on Cultivation Biology of algae. The chosen candidate would lead a team of biologists and operations researchers responsible for this work at this facility. The purpose of this job is to evaluate multiple algal strains for their outdoor performance, create bench-marks for productivity, recommend strains for further scale-up, optimize cultivation practices and most importantly document the learning in order to enhance organization’s understanding of this technology space (Outdoor cultivation of algae for A2O).This position will have a key for making algae cultivation sustainable and viable in the long term.
Long Description:
- To generate scientific/technical data using established systems and procedures and protocols
- Report on work to project team or sub-project leader
- Apply depth and/or breadth of knowledge and experience to recognise problems and find solutions; propose and agree with manager if deviating from standard practice and procedures
- Effectively prioritise and plan for self and staff (as appropriate) to progress work, within a direction defined by manager
- Provide support and/or advice to others on technical issues
- Organise the daily/weekly activities of team and or contractors to meet workload demands adjusting resources where appropriate
- Interpret HSE requirements and suggest/implement improvements within a defined area
- Build relationships with stakeholders/customers in pursuit of overall goals and objectives set by others
Qualifications: PhD in Microbiology or Algology or Agriculture
Experience: Desirable is 4-5 years of experience in outdoor algae cultivation after PhD

- Ability to influence, guide and manage young graduates and contract man-power to enable smooth operations and effective implementation of high quality science at site.
- Ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teams in order to facilitate and coordinate field testing and outdoor demonstration of lab-based technologies/ approaches coming out of RCP
- Ability to interpret all processes and actions from the overall sustainability perspective.
