Jamia Hamdard was conceived as a seat of higher learning in Unani Medicine, Islamic Studies, Biosciences, Pharmacy, Nursing and other areas of knowledge by its founder as a means of fulfilling the objects of the wakf. Over a period of last ten years, Jamia Hamdard has emerged as an outstanding institution of higher learning with distinct and focused academic programmes. Graduate programme in Information Technology and Computer Applications and Post-graduate programmes in Information Technology, Computer Applications, Business Management, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy have been started in the last few years. Undergraduate programmes in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy are being introduced from this year. Jamia Hamdard offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes in several disciplines for which advanced facilities are available.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) and Monash University, Australia have joined forces to create a unique Joint Venture (JV) research academy (“The Academy”) that aims at enhancing research collaborations between Australia and India.
The Academy will be located in a purpose built, modern facility located at the Powaii campus of IITB. The Academy will operate as an independent, autonomous research institution. The Academy will have an independent Board, a CEO, research staff and seconded staff from IITB/Monash in it.

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the seven established Institutes of Technology in India, the others being Kharagpur, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Guwahati and Roorkee. Recently, Government has set up eight more Institutes of Technology. These Institutes have been created as centres of excellence for higher training, research and development in science, engineering and technology. Established as a College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was declared an Institute of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and renamed “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. Human impact leading to ecosystem destruction necessitates the development of restoration strategies. Looking at the great number of various parameters determining a plant community, the inclusion of soil microorganisms in restoration practices is indispensable. Future research on symbiosis is desperately needed for enlightening the AMF biology & PGPRs and elucidating the precise relationship between plant species and their soil environment for successful re-establishment of plant species in a new environment or in a destroyed ecosystem under restoration.
