Position Overview
The Scientific Officer E will establish and lead an independent translational cancer research program focused on clinically relevant cancer biology using advanced patient-derived model systems. The successful candidate will develop innovative research addressing rare, aggressive, and therapy-resistant cancers while collaborating with clinicians across the Tata Memorial Centre to translate laboratory discoveries into improved patient care.
The role also includes scientific leadership of ACTREC’s patient-derived organoid and xenograft facilities, supervision of doctoral students, teaching responsibilities, and active participation in institutional research initiatives.
Selected candidates will receive dedicated laboratory space and start-up research funding to establish their independent research programs.

Educational Qualification

Experience Requirements

Key Responsibilities
Independent Research Program
- Establish and lead an internationally competitive independent translational cancer research laboratory.
- Design innovative research projects addressing clinically significant questions in cancer biology.
- Develop novel experimental approaches using patient-derived cancer models.
- Secure competitive national and international extramural research funding.
Patient-Derived Model Systems
- Provide scientific leadership for ACTREC’s organoid and xenograft research facilities.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain patient-derived organoid (PDO) platforms.
- Supervise patient-derived xenograft (PDX) studies.
- Implement advanced methodologies for translational and preclinical cancer research.
- Ensure high scientific and technical standards within shared research facilities.
Translational Research
