Mandatory Training
After selection, candidates must successfully complete the training specified by the Food Authority at a recognized institute approved for the purpose.
Preferential Qualification
Preference shall be given to candidates who have:
- Served in the Territorial Army for a minimum period of two years.
OR
- Obtained an NCC “B” Certificate.
Other things being equal, such candidates will be given preference during direct recruitment.
Restriction
A person having any financial interest in the manufacture, import, or sale of any article of food shall not be appointed as a Govt Food Safety Officer under the relevant rules.

One Time Registration (OTR)
It is mandatory to obtain a One Time Registration (OTR) Number before applying. Candidates who have not obtained an OTR number must register at the OTR portal at least 72 hours before submitting the online application. Only after obtaining the OTR number can candidates submit the online application through the UPPSC website. Candidates should preserve copies of all stages of the application process, including:
- OTR registration
- Fee payment receipt
- Final application submission
- Qualification modifications or corrections
Application Process
The online application consists of four stages.
Stage 1 – Authentication
- Candidates must authenticate using their OTR number.
- If the candidate already has an OTR number:
- Enter the OTR number.
- Authenticate using OTP or OTR password.
- Personal details will automatically appear.
- Fill in the required educational qualifications.
- If the candidate does not have an OTR number:
- Register on the OTR portal.
- Obtain the OTR number.
- Complete the application using the authenticated OTR details.
Stage 2 – Application Form
Permanent and correspondence addresses will be automatically fetched from OTR. Candidates must select Yes/No against each preferential qualification applicable to the advertised post.
Stage 3 – Fee Payment

After successful payment:
- A Payment Transaction Slip will be generated.
- Candidates should print and preserve the payment receipt.

Stage 4 – Final Submission
The completed application form will be displayed. Candidates should print and preserve the final application form. Qualification-related modifications are permitted only once before the correction deadline.

Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of:
