About the Position
CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), Mysuru, a premier constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications for the position of Project Associate-I (PAT-I) under the research project titled “Sustainable Food Processing for Nutritional Wellness, Safety and Food Security.”
The selected candidates will contribute to multidisciplinary research activities supporting food safety, nutrition, food processing technologies, analytical sciences, biotechnology, and allied research areas.

Preferred Qualification
- Experience in analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
- Relevant research or industry exposure in the respective discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Support research activities under the Sustainable Food Processing project.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and analytical studies.
- Assist in food processing, biotechnology, chemistry, and nutrition-related investigations.
- Maintain laboratory records and documentation.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports.
- Collaborate with project investigators and multidisciplinary research teams.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety and quality standards.
Tenure
- Initial engagement will be up to 31 March 2027 or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.
- Extension may be granted based on project requirements and satisfactory performance.
- The total cumulative engagement under CSIR projects shall not exceed six years.
Selection Process
Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria may attend the Walk-in Interview (In-Person Mode Only) with:
- Duly filled application form (Annexure-I)
- Original educational certificates and mark sheets
- Self-attested copies of all certificates
- Valid government-issued photo identity proof
- One recent passport-size photograph

Candidates without original certificates will not be permitted to attend the interview.
Shortlisting Criteria
In the event of a large number of applicants, the selection committee may shortlist candidates based on:
- Percentage of marks in the essential qualification
- Higher educational qualifications
- Relevant experience and desirable qualifications
- Any other criteria deemed appropriate by the committee
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules:
- SC/ST/PwBD/Women Candidates: 5 years
- OBC Candidates: 3 years
Candidates claiming reservation benefits must produce valid original certificates issued by the competent authority.
Important Information
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
- Candidates pursuing higher degrees under AcSIR or institutions having MoUs with CSIR must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
- Selected candidates wishing to resign before completion of tenure must provide one month’s notice or deposit one month’s stipend in lieu thereof.
- Engagement under the project does not guarantee permanent employment or admission to higher degree programs within CSIR-CFTRI or CSIR institutions.
- NET/GATE or equivalent qualifications will not attract any additional fellowship benefits under this project.
- Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification.
- The Director, CSIR-CFTRI, reserves the right to accept or reject any application and the decision shall be final.
