Position Overview
The Division of Genetics and Division of Plant Physiology, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, invite applications for the position of Research Associate (RA) under a DBT-funded research project focused on the development of Dry-DSR ready Basmati rice varieties through genomics-assisted breeding approaches.
The selected candidate will contribute to research activities involving molecular breeding, field phenotyping, marker-assisted selection, and crop improvement programs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Life Sciences.
- Alternative Eligibility: Candidates with M.Tech. in Life Sciences and a minimum of three years of research, teaching, or design and development experience after obtaining the degree, along with at least one research paper published in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal, are also eligible.
- Desirable Experience:
Experience in:- Molecular markers
- Marker-assisted breeding
- Field phenotyping
- Handling and management of field rice crops
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research activities related to genomics-assisted breeding of Basmati rice.
- Support marker-assisted breeding and molecular marker analysis.
- Participate in field phenotyping and evaluation of breeding populations.
- Manage field experiments and rice crop-related research activities.
- Analyze experimental data and contribute to project reporting.
- Assist in preparation of scientific reports, publications, and project documentation.
Tenure
The appointment is purely temporary and contractual. The initial engagement will be up to 31 March 2027. The position may be extended periodically based on project requirements and satisfactory performance. The appointment is co-terminus with the project and does not confer any right to permanent employment at ICAR-IARI.
