Key Responsibilities
The Communications Office Coordinator will conduct communication and outreach efforts of the institute, including activities related to participating institutes and the BLiSC Bio-Cluster. The primary focus will be on engagements with schools and colleges through webinars, open days, school or college visits, science exhibitions, and programs that facilitate interactions with the lay public.
The coordinator is expected to conduct all calendar-specific activities of the institute and initiate creative outreach efforts for wider visibility of DBT-inStem and its scientific activities for the general audience, and activities uniquely developed for BLiSC.
The incumbent will also oversee web content, periodic reporting on events and publications, generate content for annual reports, and work on multiple assignments simultaneously within stipulated deadlines.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Undergraduate or postgraduate in any area of Life Sciences
- Relevant work experience supported by documentation and testimonials
- Excellent written communication skills in English, in science writing/journalism in biomedical research
- Proficiency in rewriting copy/editorial reviews to ensure the quality and accuracy of written communications
Desirable Qualifications
- Postgraduate Degree in communications, journalism, or public relations
- Ability to explain complex biological concepts to the lay public/non-scientists
- General interest in biomedical research with experience in science illustration
Experience
