Minimum Qualification
- (A) First class (60% or equivalent grade) M.Sc. in any branch of science (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics etc) or M.Tech or 4-year /8 Semester B.Sc (Honours with Research) with 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.
- (B) Only “Category-I” NET candidates having a valid fellowship through any one of the following examinations: CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (I), DST-INSPIRE, BINC or any other equivalent JRF examination (Copy of the award letter needs to be attached). Candidates in their final year of the qualifying examination may apply. However, if selected, a copy of the award letter must be produced at the time of admission). The fellowship must be valid for at least four years. GATE, DBT(II) and NET Category II & III are not accepted.

- Scan a recent colour passport size photo. The size of the photo should be less than 2 MB.
- Scan the fellowship award letter. The size of the scan copy should be less than 1 MB.
- Scan the caste certificate, if any. The size of the scan copy should be less than 1 MB.
- Save the online receipt generated after the successful online submission. This is your admit card. You must bring your Admit card along with one identity proof (Preferably your Aadhar card) to appear in the written exam and/or interview to be held on June 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 2026.
- The admit card will be submitted at ICGEB. You may keep a copy of the admit card with you for future reference.

NOTE
It is mandatory to have minimum qualifications to fill the form for admission to the ICGEB-JNU Ph.D. programme. Despite this caution, in case you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria and still appear in the written exam/interview, you will do so at your own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that you do not fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements, the admission, if granted to you, shall be cancelled.
