Job Overview
The Senior Scientist in Cell Line Development is responsible for the upstream creation of high-yielding cell lines. This biological sciences job involves the genetic engineering of CHO-GS (-) host cells and the selection of stable clones capable of producing high-quality therapeutic proteins.
Key Responsibilities
A professional in this Scientist Job will handle the following core duties:
- Genetic Engineering: Constructing single and double-gene expression vectors and managing transfection protocols.
- Clone Generation: Performing single-cell seeding for monoclone generation and finalizing minipools.
- Process Development: Executing fed-batch studies for both minipools and monoclones to analyze titer and product quality.
- Banking & Compliance: Overseeing the development of GMP cell banks and preparing department-specific SOPs and SLPs.
- Technical Writing: Preparing and reviewing comprehensive cell line development reports for both mammalian and microbial projects—a vital part of this microbiology job.
- Operations Management: Managing laboratory vendors, in-house inventories, and experimental structures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: M.Sc. or M.Tech in Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or Biotechnology.
- Experience: 1-5 years of work experience in mammalian cell line development within the biopharma or biotech sector. Alternatively, a fresh PhD with strong molecular biology experience is eligible.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in transfection, molecular cloning, and understanding of GMP standards for cell banking.
