Key Responsibilities
1. Primary Responsibilities
- Receive cytogenetics samples and verify demographics with TRF
- Handle postnatal (blood) samples
- Perform blood culture, harvesting, and slide preparation
- Capture images after wet-lab completion
- Conduct metaphase counting and karyotype analysis
- Handle prenatal samples including CVS dissection
- Culture, trypsinization, harvesting of prenatal samples
- Prepare slides and capture images for prenatal samples
- Prepare reagents required for testing
- Maintain daily logs and user documentation
- Assist seniors in calibration documentation
- Handle T-SPOT.TB sample processing
- Perform T-SPOT.TB workflow and result analysis
2. Secondary Responsibilities
- Support other lab sections during staff absence
- Assist seniors in SOP revisions and process improvements
Educational Requirements
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences
- Preferred specializations: Biomedical Genetics, Medical Genetics, Human Genetics, Applied Genetics, Zoology
Experience:
- Postgraduates: Prior cytogenetics lab experience is an advantage
- Graduates: 1–2 years of experience in cytogenetics is required
Skills Required
- Hands-on experience in cytogenetics laboratory workflows
- Metaphase analysis and karyotyping
- Sample handling and blood culture techniques
- Ability to work with prenatal and postnatal samples
- Precision in slide preparation and image capture
- Knowledge of T-SPOT.TB testing workflow
- Ability to maintain accurate lab documentation
- Flexibility to work on Sundays/holidays if required
