National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) – Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR),

Project Description: Molecular cloning of DNA constructs for CRISPR-based genomic manipulations
We are hiring a project associate who will generate DNA constructs for genomic manipulations in Drosophila melanogaster. This is part of a DBT-funded project. Based on the person’s interest and acumen, there is a possibility to be involved in fluorescence imaging and molecular screening. In addition, the candidate is expected to get involved in other projects that the fly facility might be doing. Persons with previous experience in the above kinds of experiments are preferred.
The appointment will be a fixed-term position initially for one (1) year and renewable annually subject to the outcome of a performance assessment. The position comes with consolidated pay based on qualification and experience, subject to institutional guidelines.
Qualification and Experience:
- Master’s in any branch of Biological Science with an aggregate of 75% marks.
- One (1) year experience in a molecular biology lab.
Skills Required:
- Basic molecular biology techniques: molecular cloning, PCR.
- Drosophila genetics.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills.
- Good organization skills.

Age Limit: 40 years as of 01.01.2025 (subject to relaxation as per GoI norms)
Consolidated Salary:
- Rs.25,000 + 27% HRA (without CSIR / GATE / equivalent qualification)
- Rs.37,000 + 27% HRA (with CSIR / GATE / equivalent National exam qualification)
