Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise, under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an Interface Agency to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech enterprise to undertake strategic research and innovation, addressing nationally relevant product development needs.

Position: Associate Consultant – Incubation

Duration: The engagement is contractual, initially for a period of one year, and extendable based on performance and the needs of the Department.
Consolidated Fee: The consolidated fee for Associate Consultant shall be Rs.75,000/- per month.
Job Description
: BIRAC has set up 95 Bioincubation centres across the country. This expanding Incubation network facilitates Biotech Startups and plays a critical role in the Innovation ecosystem. The consultant will support and work with the Incubation team.Reporting System: The Consultant shall report to the In-charge of Incubation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute towards the identification and operationalization of new incubators.
- Coordinate with different departments (Technical, Legal, IP, Finance, etc.) within BIRAC for the timely disbursement of funds and ensure their proper utilization in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
- Monitor the progress of the Incubation centres to ensure the timely completion of milestones.
- Organize site visits for technical due diligence of proposals, along with area experts.
- Work with the Incubation team and stakeholders involved in S&T incubation, especially in biotech, to understand and identify ecosystem gaps and growth opportunities.
- Assist the Incubation In-charge in organizing stakeholder events.
- Contribute to the team’s objectives and targets through seamless collaboration.
- Adhere to internal and external compliance responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Understand team objectives and collaborate with others to achieve them.
- Domestic travel will be involved.
Essential Qualifications:
- M.Sc. / M.Tech / 4-year Bachelor’s professional degree program in Life Sciences, Bio-medical Sciences, Pharmacy, or any other allied Biotechnology areas from a recognized institute.
Experience:
- Between 3 to 10 years, with preferably 2-3 years’ experience in entrepreneurship development or incubation activities in a public or private organization.
Age Limit:
- Maximum 45 years as of the closing date of the vacancy.
