Project title: “Process for the preparation of fine and leather chemicals (5-methylfurfural, rhamnose, biotanning agents and biocolorants) from seaweed and their applications” funded by CSIR, New Delhi

Essential Qualification M.Sc., in Marine Science / Marine Biology / Marine Biotechnology / Oceanography / Oceanography and Coastal Area Studies / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Botany / Plant Biology / Plant Biotechnology
Desirable Qualification Experience on seaweed taxonomy / Ulva cultivation / seaweed cultivation in tanks / seaweed collection
Monthly remuneration (i) Rs. 31,000/- + HRA for M. Sc. scholars who are selected through (a) National eligibility tests-CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) a selection process through National level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions.

(ii) Rs. 25,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (a)and (b) above.

Age limit 35 years (Relaxation in age as per CSIR norms)

Interested candidate meeting the above requirements may send your application along with self-attestations copy of all your supporting documents by post/courier/hand to Dr. S. Dinesh Kumar, Scientist, Marine Algal Research Station, CSIR-CSMCRI, Mandapam camp-623 519, Tamil Nadu on or before 04.06.2024.

Applicants those who are working as a Project Assistant/ Field Assistant / Research scholar or any other mode in CSIR institutions / Universities / other government organizations need to be submit No Objection Certificate from their present Project Leader or competent authority in the letter head with seal. Candidates applying without knowledge of their Project Leader or Competent authority, candidates will be whole responsibility for any enquiry and CSIR–CSMCRI and MARS, Mandapam will not be responsible. Interview will be conducted on physical mode at CSIR-CSMCRI-MARS, Mandapam camp, Tamil Nadu for shortlisted candidates and no TA/DA is permissible for attending the interview. Shortlisted candidate list will be informed through mail on 06.06.2024. Applications should be submitted as per the instruction in the application form otherwise application will be rejected.

Duration: This post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The engagement of a project staff in different project either in the CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar or different Lab./Institute of CSIR taken together shall not exceed 5 years in any case. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar.
