The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed Ministry of Education in August 2020). In 2012, IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament.
The Institute invites applications for the following positions under the project titled “A knowledgebase of molecular interactions in Mycobacterium-National Network Project of IISER Pune” (Proj. code: 30823677) funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT):
Post I
Post Code 01
Post: Project Associate-I
No. of Posts: 01 (One)
Minimum Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Bioinformatics / Biotechnology with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade.
Preference: Candidates with programming skills in Python / MATLAB, experience in data or image analysis methods, and holders of a national research fellowship (CSIR-JRF/SRF, DBT-JRF/SRF, BINC, UGC-JRF or equivalent). A published paper in a peer-reviewed international journal will be preferred.
Job Requirements:
The incumbent would have to
- Write programs for the interactions of biomolecules at the level of network dynamics.
- Present results to the team and at a wider network level and work towards public dissemination.
- Interact with other researchers in the network, structural biology, implement algorithms, set up and maintain databases and web servers.
- Small component of systems administration.
Tenure of the Appointment: Initially for a period of one year, extendable subject to satisfactory performance and continuation of the project.
Consolidated Emoluments per Month: Rs. 25,000/- + 24% House Rent Allowance (HRA)

Minimum Educational Qualification: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics / Biotechnology / Biology / Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Computer Science / or related disciplines.
Preference: Candidates having demonstrable expertise/experience in computational structural biology, bioinformatics software, and algorithm development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python/Perl, familiarity with database creation and handling will be preferred.
Job Requirements:
The incumbent would have to:
- Create databases of protein interaction models.
- Make relational/queryable databases of molecular interactions.
- Code new algorithms for peptide design and small molecule design.
Tenure of the Appointment: Initially for a period of one year, extendable subject to satisfactory performance and continuation of the project.
Consolidated Emoluments per Month: Rs. 56,000/- + 24% HRA

Minimum Educational Qualification: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or Structural Biology or related areas.
Preference: Candidates with strong research experience and international peer-reviewed publications in the area of structural biology, bioinformatics, or biophysics/biochemistry will be preferred.
Job Requirements:
- Proficient in the analysis of the structures of proteins and/or their complexes with nucleic acids.
- Analyze big data for sequence and structural information and have expertise in tools of protein structure prediction, modeling, and analysis.
