Hey, there we see that you are interested in this unique opportunity, so make the best use of this AIIMS Delhi Summer Internship under SSR scheme of SERB by checking out the interview questions below and the answers.
  1. Question: Can you briefly explain your research proposal for this internship? Answer: My research proposal focuses on conducting structural and functional studies of Mycobacterial toxin-antitoxin systems. It aims to investigate the mechanisms and interactions involved in these systems and their potential applications in understanding Mycobacterial biology and developing targeted therapies.
  2. Question: What relevant coursework or research experience do you have in the field of biophysics? Answer: I have completed coursework in biophysics during my M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. program, which provided me with a strong foundation in the principles and techniques of biophysical research. Additionally, I have gained practical experience through laboratory projects and internships that involved studying protein structures, molecular interactions, and biophysical characterization techniques.
  3. Question: How would you approach conducting structural studies of Mycobacterial toxin-antitoxin systems? Answer: To conduct structural studies, I would employ techniques such as X-ray crystallography or cryo-electron microscopy to determine the three-dimensional structure of the toxin-antitoxin complexes. I would also utilize spectroscopic methods like nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to study the dynamic behavior and conformational changes of the proteins. These techniques would provide valuable insights into the molecular architecture and functional mechanisms of the toxin-antitoxin systems.
  4. Question: What are some challenges you anticipate in this research project, and how would you address them? Answer: One potential challenge could be obtaining pure and stable protein samples for structural studies. To overcome this, I would optimize protein expression and purification protocols, perform extensive characterization, and ensure quality control at each step. Additionally, I would collaborate with experts in the field to address any technical difficulties and seek their guidance in troubleshooting.
  5. Question: How do you envision the outcomes of this internship contributing to the field of biophysics and Mycobacterial research? Answer: The outcomes of this internship would provide valuable insights into the structure and function of Mycobacterial toxin-antitoxin systems, shedding light on their roles in bacterial physiology and pathogenesis. This knowledge could contribute to the development of targeted therapies against Mycobacterial infections and open avenues for further research in understanding the mechanisms underlying bacterial persistence and drug resistance.

Remember, these questions and answers are only examples, and it’s important to tailor them to your own experiences and expertise when preparing for an interview.
