IARI Biotech Fellow Job: Eligibility, How to Apply, Important Dates, Selection Process, and Terms and Conditions

ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Regional Station in Indore, Madhya Pradesh has announced a walk-in interview for the post of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) under the ICAR-funded CRP on Biofortification for Nutritional Improvement of Selected Crops. The project, with code number 12-215 (TG)-3232, aims to improve the nutritional value of crops for better health and food security.

Age limit: The Minimum age Under SRF category will be 21 years

& Maximum age 45 years with relaxation as per rules.

How to Apply for IARI Biotech Fellow Job:

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for the IARI Biotech Fellow Job by following the steps below:

The candidates will have to compulsorily filled in application form (as per the format annexed), all the copy certificates from matriculation onwards, date of birth certificate, NET/equivalent certificate, degree certificate either original or provisional and a recent photograph enclosed onto the application form. Proof of experience and publications also need to be attached with the application form.

Important Dates:

The walk-in interview for the IARI Biotech Fellow Job is scheduled to be held on April 27, 2023, at ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Regional Station, Indore-452 001, at 11.00 AM. Candidates are advised to submit their applications well in advance of the interview date to allow sufficient time for processing.

Selection Process: The selection process for the IARI Biotech Fellow Job will be based on the candidate’s performance in the walk-in interview. Only candidates who meet the essential qualifications will be invited for the interview.

Terms and Conditions:

• The posts are purely temporary and will be filled on a contractual basis initially up to 31st March 2023, but may be extended further based on the performance of the candidate or till the termination of the project whichever is earlier.
• The candidate shall not claim regular appointment at this Institute, as the positions co-terminus with the project.
• The selected candidate will be required to produce all the original documents at the time of joining.
• No TA/DA/ any other expenses will be paid for attending the interview.
• Concealing of facts or canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification or termination.
• The candidate intending to attend the interview, if any of his/her near or distant relative is an employee of the ICAR/IARI, have to declare his/her name, designation, nature of duties, relationship in writing before the interview date.
• All the other candidates are also required compulsorily submit the scan declaration duly signed in the format annexed along with other documents in the e-mail.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the IARI Biotech Fellow Job, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Genetics/Plant Breeding/Genetics & Plant Breeding/ Ag.Botany/ Agricultural Biotechnology/Plant Biotechnology/Molecular Biology & Biotechnology/ Biotechnology with 4/5 years of Bachelor’s degree
• OR a Post Graduate degree in relevant basic sciences with 3 years Bachelor’s degree and 2 years Master’s degree should have NET qualification and two years of research experience (ICAR-F.No. Ag.Edn. 6/27/2014-HRD dated 30.07.2019)

Desirable: Experience of working with field crops and basic computer skills.

Emoluments: Rs. 31,000/ per month + HRA as per admissible rates for first and second
year and Rs. 35,000/ per month + HRA as per admissible rates for third year in accordance with ICAR-F.No. Ag.Edn. 6/27/2014-HRD dated 30.07.2019

1. What made you interested in this position?
   Answer: I am interested in this position because it is aligned with my educational background and research interests. I hold a Master’s degree in Genetics and have expertise in the area of plant breeding, genetics and biotechnology. The position of Senior Research Fellow in ICAR-CRP New Biofortification project entitled “Biofortification in selected crops for nutritional security” offers me an opportunity to further explore this area and contribute to the project’s objectives.
2. How do you plan to contribute to the Biofortification project?
   Answer: My expertise in Genetics, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology can help in enhancing the nutritional value of crops through the development of varieties with higher nutrient content. I also have experience working with field crops, which can be an asset for the project. Additionally, I am well-versed with molecular biology techniques, which can be utilized for the characterization of genes involved in nutrient accumulation in crops.
3. Can you discuss a research project you worked on in the past and your role in it?
   Answer: During my Master’s degree, I worked on developing drought-tolerant varieties of maize using molecular breeding techniques. My role involved the identification of genomic regions associated with drought tolerance and developing molecular markers for these regions. I also conducted experiments to evaluate the performance of the developed varieties under drought stress conditions.
4. How do you stay updated with the latest advancements in your field?
   Answer: I stay updated with the latest advancements in my field by regularly reading scientific journals, attending conferences and workshops, and networking with other researchers in my field. I am also a member of a few professional organizations related to Genetics, Biotechnology, and Plant Breeding.
5. What are your long-term career goals, and how does this position align with them?
   Answer: My long-term career goal is to become a leading researcher in the area of plant breeding and biotechnology. This position offers me an opportunity to contribute to the field of Biofortification and enhance my research skills. It also offers exposure to working on a project with a multidisciplinary team and can help me develop my leadership skills.
