Walk-in-Interview for the selection of Project Assistant (PA) (03 Posts)

Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Delhi under the aegis of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), is engaged in research and developmental work. The Institute invites applications for the post of Project Assistants (PA) (03 posts) from young and meritorious Indian nationals, who are creative, have passion and a desire to pursue defence related R&D work. Selection is purely on temporary basis under a S&T research project at INMAS, Delhi.

General Instructions:

1. Tenure: Initially for One year. Yearly extension based on the performance of the candidate with maximum two more years or till the completion of the project.
2. Upper age limit: 28 years as on the date of interview. The upper age limit shall be relaxable for candidates belonging to SC/ST (5 years) and OBC (3 years).
3. Application form can be downloaded from the website www.drdo.gov.in and should be e-mailed to [email protected]. Candidates should carry copy of their application form when appearing for the interview.
4. Reporting time is 0900h-1000h on the date of Interview, at Main Gate Reception, INMAS, Timarpur, Delhi. Latecomers will not be allowed to appear for interview at any cost.
5. Candidates will be required to produce certificates/testimonials in original at the time of interview. No entry would be permitted in campus without certificates/testimonials in original.
6. Candidates presently employed in Government Departments/ PSU’s/ Autonomous Bodies will be required to produce NOC at the time of interview.
7. How to reach the venue of Interview:
   INMAS is located 1 km from Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro station Delhi towards Timarpur/
   Opposite to University of Delhi North Campus & Nearest Land Mark is SBI ATM SSPL Branch, Timarpur, Delhi-110054.
8. Please note: Electronic items like smart/mobile phones/pendrive/laptop/CD-ROM etc. are not allowed to be carried inside INMAS Campus.
9. It may be noted that offer of project assistantship does not confer any right of permanent absorption in DRDO.
10. Number of vacancies may change as per organizational requirement.
11. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview & on joining.

Essential Educational Qualification: First Class in M.Sc.* in Chemistry/Life Sciences/ Nanotechnology/Pharmacy

* Candidates still pursuing M.Sc. are not eligible to appear for the walk-in-interview.

Desirable qualification: Experience in doing research work.

Stipend (Monthly): Rs.40,000/ (Consolidated)

1. What motivated you to apply for this position, and what inspired you to pursue research and developmental work in the field of nuclear medicine and allied sciences? Answer: As a Project Assistant at INMAS, I would have an opportunity to work on defence-related R&D projects, which would not only enhance my skills and knowledge but also enable me to contribute to the country’s national security. I am passionate about chemistry, life sciences, nanotechnology and pharmacy, and I believe that my academic background and research experience make me a suitable candidate for this position.
2. Can you explain your understanding of the principles and applications of nuclear medicine and allied sciences, and how you have used them in your previous research work? Answer: Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses radioactive substances to diagnose and treat diseases. Allied sciences such as chemistry, life sciences, nanotechnology, and pharmacy play a critical role in the development and optimization of radiopharmaceuticals, imaging agents, and other diagnostic and therapeutic tools. In my previous research work, I have used techniques such as radiochemistry, chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, and cell culture to synthesize, characterize, and evaluate novel compounds for biomedical applications.
3. How familiar are you with the safety protocols and regulations related to handling radioactive materials and other hazardous substances, and how have you ensured compliance in your previous research work? Answer: Safety is of utmost importance in nuclear medicine and allied sciences, and I have undergone extensive training on the handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials and other hazardous substances. I am familiar with the safety protocols and regulations issued by national and international agencies such as the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In my previous research work, I have always followed the best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with these regulations and prevent any potential risks to myself and others.
4. Can you describe a project that you have worked on that required you to collaborate with other team members, and how did you manage to ensure effective communication and coordination? Answer: During my M.Sc. project, I was part of a team that was working on the development of a novel drug delivery system for cancer therapy. We had to collaborate with researchers from different disciplines, such as material science, pharmacology, and biotechnology, to design and optimize the system. To ensure effective communication and coordination, we held regular team meetings and maintained a shared database where we could update our progress and discuss any issues. We also assigned specific roles and responsibilities to each team member and made sure that everyone was aware of the project’s goals and timelines.
5. How do you plan to contribute to the ongoing research and developmental work at INMAS, and what are your long-term career goals in this field? Answer: As a Project Assistant at INMAS, I would like to contribute to the institute’s research and developmental work by bringing in new ideas, techniques, and perspectives. I am particularly interested in the development of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging agents for early diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases. In the long run, I aspire to pursue a Ph.D. in nuclear medicine or a related field and become a leading researcher in this field, with a focus on translational research and clinical applications.
