Applications are invited in a prescribed format (Walk-in-Interview / On-line) for the temporary post of “Junior Research Fellow (JRF)” for the Project entitled “Molecular Phylogeny of microbial assemblages of the seawater cooling system of a nuclear power plant” Selected candidates may enroll in Ph.D. Programme in the Department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering (BM), National Institute of Technology Rourkela based on Institute norms and regulations.

Candidates will build a single pdf file and it is to be sent to Principal Investigator ([email protected]) on or before 21st August 2022, 2359 HRS. 2359 HRS. The candidates are also required to produce relevant documents mentioned in the application form (such as original of all mark sheets and certificates, research papers (if any), experience certificate (if any) etc. during the interview.)
Mere possession of minimum qualification does not guarantee an invitation to the interview. Candidates will be short-listed based on the merit and need of the project.
Accommodation – Bachelor accommodation in the hostel will be provided and Campus accommodation may be provided to married students subject to availability.
Job Description – The project student (likely to be converted as a PhD student) will be involved in microbial diversity analysis by Next Generation Sequencing Technology. Microbial and molecular techniques will be involved. Bioinformatic software will be required for sequence analysis. Moreover, biofilm formation and controlling mechanisms will be involved here.
Consolidated monthly compensation / Fellowship –

- Based on the performance of the research work the fellowship will be converted into an Institute fellowship as per Institute rules.
Essential Qualifications and experience –
B.Tech with GATE/M.E./M. Tech degree in Biotech with specialization in Biotechnology,/ Environmental Engineering/ Environmental Biotechnology, or similar fields with above 65% (7 CGPA) of marks.
Desirable Qualifications/ Experiences –
- Experience in Molecular Biology, Environmental Biotechnology and Microbiology is desirable for Biotech background students.
- GATE score will be preferred.
