Responsibilities –
In the highly competitive race of drug discovery, Lilly’s research informatics team has combined novel techniques, simulation, analytics, and other in-silico capabilities with deep knowledge of science to discover effective and differentiated therapies in cancer, diabetes, immunology, neurodegenerative and other disease areas. Working with research scientists from drug discovery and taking advantage of Lilly’s proprietary access to scientific data and computing platforms, this position will play a key role in the creation of novel computational methods as well as in the discovery of novel disease targets, biomarkers and therapies.
Key Objectives/Deliverables –
- Drive the discovery of novel disease targets, biomarkers and/or therapies by leveraging world-class informatics skills in the area of immunology
- Serve as Immunology Business Relationship Manager to stimulate, surface, and shape research demand on informatics capabilities, and to ensure that the potential business value from those capabilities is captured, optimized, and recognized
- Represent Research Information and Digital Solutions as the Business Relationship
- Manager of immunology research leadership Participate as a technical/scientific lead on cross-functional research teams with members from Lilly discovery research, clinical, IT and statistics
- Influence and shape the informatics capabilities strategy by providing regular input to projects, specialized databases, innovative computational methods, and advances in research
- Drive the evaluation of external and internal informatics platforms/services/data sources with a focus on capabilities, workflows and visualizations
Basic Qualifications –
- M.S. in computational, information sciences or related fields with hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas – bioinformatics, cheminformatics, computational chemistry, and genomics.
- More than two-year working experience in one or more of the following areas – bioinformatics, cheminformatics, computational chemistry, and genomics Demonstrable experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing complex data and information from disparate sources Extensive hands-on experience in data science languages such as Python or R, and related informatics code packages and tools (e.g. Pandas, Plotly, Jupyter, R Shiny) Extensive experience working with Cloud (AWS preferred) and HPC, SQL and NoSQL databases
Additional Skills/Preferences –
Expertise in processing, analyzing and interpreting high-resolution omics data Skilled in working with both structured and unstructured data Experience in drug discovery with a focus on computational methods, tools and databases Experience with Machine Learning and/or Deep Learning approaches Innovative thinking with strong problem-solving skills Experienced in data modelling, ETL.
