CSIR – Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Chennai is a National Laboratory under the aegis of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). It is one of the world’s premier institutes engaged in Research & Development in the area of Leather Science & Technology and is associated with several National & International programs.
Applications are invited from talented candidates for engagement as Senior Project Associates, Project Associates, Project Assistants and Scientific Administrative Assistants at various levels under different projects, tenable at CLRI, as per the qualification, age etc., detailed in the table given below

General Terms and Conditions –
- Eligible Candidates are required to apply through ONLINE mode only. The link for
ONLINE APPLICATION is available on CSIR-CLRI’s website https://www.clri.org/. - The date for determining the upper age limit, qualifications and/or experience shall be
the closing date of submission of online applications. - After submission of ONLINE APPLICATION(s), the applicant should download the
application form / take the print of their application(s) form. - The candidate should NOT send their application form through post.
- The prescribed qualifications should have been obtained through recognized
Universities/ Institutions etc. Incomplete applications/ applications, application forms
without requisite certificates/ documents are liable to be rejected. - Application other than the ONLINE form, will not be considered.
- The screening of the candidates to be called for Interviews will be done prima facie on
the basis of information and documents furnished by them. Therefore, candidates must
ensure to be given full and correct/true information - Any discrepancy found in the information given in the application and that is evident in
original documents will make the candidate ineligible for appearing for the Interview. - If at any subsequent date it is detected/found that the candidates have given incorrect
information or has withheld certain information or does not fulfil the eligibility criteria;
their candidature shall be cancelled without assigning any reason whatsoever. - Eligible candidates will be called for an interview tentatively scheduled at Central Leather
Research Institute, Adyar, Chennai – 600020. This will be further subject to COVID-19
protocol in vogue at that time. In case of circumstances so warrant, the interview
may be held in virtual mode. - Candidates will be contacted only through Mobile numbers and Email IDs provided by
them in their application form. - The candidates called for interview should bring along with them the duly signed
application form, accompanied with self-attested photocopies of all the requisite
certificates, mark sheets in support of age, educational qualifications, experience, if
applicable, and submit the same along with Original certificates, mark sheets, at the time of attending an interview for verification - The candidates will not be allowed to attend the interview if they do not bring the printed copy of their application form and or requisite certificates/mark sheet.
- All applicants must fulfil the essential qualifications/ experience of the position and other
conditions stipulated in the notification as of the last date of submission of the online
applications. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess
the essential qualifications laid down for the position they are applying for. No enquiry
asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained. - Document/certificate furnished in a language other than Hindi or English must be
accompanied with an English transcript of the same duly attested by a Gazetted Officer
or Notary. - Canvassing in any form and/ or bringing any influence political or otherwise will be
treated as a disqualification for the position. - Details of candidates shortlisted for Interviews and other updates in the matter shall be
notified through the CLRI website – https://clri.org. Candidates are requested to watch the CLRI website from time to time for updates. - The Competent Authority has a right to amend, delete and add terms & conditions to
this notification.
For Post I
Monthly Emoluments – Rs.42,000/- plus HRA per month
Essential – Ph.D Physics/ Biophysics/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology from recognized University/ Institute
Desirable – Candidates having experience in Molecular Docking, Computational Drug Discovery & Antiviral Development, Molecular Dynamics/ Free Energy Perturbation Simulations using standard open source and commercial software packages will be given preference.
For Post II
Monthly Emoluments – Rs.25,000/- plus HRA per month
Essential – M.Sc in Microbiology from a recognized University/ Institute.
Desirable – Candidates having experience in the cultivation of fungi in industry/ academic institutions will be given preference.
For Post III
Monthly Emoluments – Rs.25,000/- plus HRA per month
Essential – M.Sc. in Microbiology/ Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology from a recognized University/ Institute.
For Post IV
Monthly Emoluments – Rs.25,000/- plus HRA per month
Essential – M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Medical Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Bioinformatics from a recognized University/ Institute.
Desirable – Candidates having experience in the area of Protein purification, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics will be given preference.
For Post V
Monthly Emoluments –
- PA-I – Rs.25,000/- plus HRA per month
- PA-II – Rs.28,000/- plus HRA per month
Essential –
Project Associate – I
Essential – M.Sc in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Medical Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics OR B.Tech in Biotechnology from a recognized University/ Institute
(OR)
Project Associate – II
Essential – M.Sc in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Medical Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics OR B.Tech in Biotechnology from a recognized University/ Institute plus 02 years experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
Desirable – Candidates having experience in Protein purification/ Genomics/ Studies/ Molecular Biology will be given preference.
For Post VI
Monthly Emoluments – Rs.25,000/- plus HRA per month
Essential – M.Sc in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Bioinformatics/ Medical Biochemistry from a recognized University/ Institute.
Desirable – Candidates having experience in three-dimensional bio-printing/ molecular biology will be given preference.
