NCCS, Pune, invites application from eligible candidates for admissions to the PhD programme of March-2022 session. The applicants should be a bonafide Indian citizen, having a regularly great academic record with strong motivation to pursue research in modern biology leading to a PhD degree and with eligibility discussed below must make an application for the same. Students with a postgraduate degree and having legitimate fellowship from CSIR/UGC/DBT (Category I)/ICMR/ BINC, all are eligible to apply.
DST-Inspire qualified students with NET-LS or GATE are also eligible to apply.
Students with a postgraduate degree that do not have a fellowship but have.
certified JGEEBILS examination conducted by NCBS/TIFR held on 07th March 2021 are eligible to apply. Nonetheless, candidates, those are shortlisted by NCCS criteria will only be called for interview. A limited number of fellowships will be offered by NCCS to the selected students, that do not have fellowship (from CSIR/DBT/ICMR/ UGC/DST-Inspire/BINC) however have certified JGEEBILS and are chosen by NCCS. Submission of application to NCCS-PhD programme does not automatically guarantee that an applicant will be shortlisted for interview.
Shortlisted candidates fulfilling NCCS criteria will have to appear for the interview to be held at NCCS on 19th, 20th and 21st January 2022. In-depth eligibility conditions are
given below under.
ELIGIBILITY FOR NCCS PhD PROGRAMME:
I. Should have a Masters (postgraduate) degree in any branch of Sciences with interest in pursuing research in Modern Biology, having at least 55% or comparable Grade Point Average (GPA) (A relaxation of 5% of marks, shall be allowed for Reserved Categories SC/ST/OBC and Persons With Disabilities) and with a legitimate fellowship from CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/ BINC, etc. OR DST-Inspire with NET-LS or GATE.
II. Students with a post-graduate degree, who do not have individual fellowship but have certified JGEEBILS examination performed by NCBS/TIFR on 07th March, 2021 will be qualified to apply. Students will be shortlisted based upon JGEEBILS results by NCCS criteria for interview. NCCS decision in this regard will be final. Please write your JGEEBILS March 2021 Reference Code on the top of the application form at the designated place.
How to Apply:
- Candidates who have qualified just for Lectureship in CSIR-UGC (NET) as well as the
” Project list of ICMR” are not eligible. - NCCS’s Ph.D. program is a full-time program. The. chosen candidates might have
to stay on campus. - All the eligible complete applications received within the last date will be
screened as well as shortlisted candidates will be called for interview based on the
schedule. - Various other terms and conditions of the fellowship will certainly be directed by the financing agency awarding the fellowship. The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years
which is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of applicants belonging to SC/ST/ Women/PWD as well as 3 years in case of OBC applicants, or as applicable. - Fellowship will certainly be activated according to the respective financing agencies guidelines on Direct Benefit Transfer basis. NCCS will not responsible for providing fellowships.
- Reservation will be according to the Government of India guidelines.
- SC/ST/ OBC candidates ought to additionally attach a true copy of Caste Certification/ The latest non-creamy layer certificate in addition to the application and originals must be produced at the time of joining.
- Kindly mention “Application for Ph.D. – March 2022 Session” in the subject of
the email. - The complete application (download from NCCS website) along with the
copies of M.Sc. marks statement as well as Fellowship certificate/admit card need to be
sent by email to [email protected] (One PDF file containing
application in the prescribed format in addition to certifications) on or prior to

INTERVIEWS:
0nline interview will be held at NCCS, Pune of all shortlisted candidates as per the
selection criteria set by NCCS. Details of the interview process will be published on the
NCCS website along with the list of shortlisted candidates on 11th January 2022.
