India’s new CDI division By AstraZeneca 

AstraZeneca India has established a Clinical Data and Insights (CDI) division in India to reinforce its global presence and handle data-related aspects of clinical trials. The company officials stated that the CDI team in Bengaluru, India, is significant progress to help a burgeoning global portfolio and build on internal data expertise.

According to the statement, the Clinical Data and Insights team is in charge of managing data-related aspects of AstraZeneca’s clinical trials, except analysis and reporting. The CDI division supports initial and final-stage clinical programs from phase I to phase III with an integrated end-to-end strategy for clinical data, analytics, acumens, and risk management across therapeutics fields and portfolios. Presently, a 30-member team, which is foreseen to expand to over 100 members by next year.

In response to the CDI’s commencement, Siva Padmanabhan, Managing Director, AstraZeneca India, stated that the role of GCCs in the overall progress of the parent organization is changing. In the last decade, GCCs in India have undertaken more vital and transformative work that is significant to the organization’s progress. Global Fortune-500 companies have consistently increased their investment in India in sectors like business services, digital, engineering, IT, product development

, and R&D.

AstraZeneca in India is no exception – since its establishment, it has provided various services, including IT, business services, and R&D, from the centers in Bengaluru and Chennai, on transformative projects. AstraZeneca’s decision to establish the CDI division in India is merely a natural progression in order to capitalize on India’s vast talent pool.

AstraZeneca CDI currently has more than 400 employees and around 700 data-management experts in vendor partnerships spread over 6 nations. They are now setting data science and AI across R&D centers to allow their data teams to push scientific limits and offer life-changing drugs.

Natalie Fishburn, Vice President and Global Head, CDI, AstraZeneca, stated on establishing a CDI division in India that Clinical data and insight solutions allow pharma organizations to gain more profound clarity into the patient’s journey by deriving actionable insights from diverse data. The CDI division in India is critical to the imperative goal of being industry leaders in this area.

He also added that the way in which data is managed is evolving, and they are growing and expanding their abilities to be ready for the future. Furthermore, the Indian market has expanded significantly by providing a large talent pool, most of whom have more than ten years of experience, which has motivated them to establish this division in India.
