Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun invites applications for Walk-in-interview for
engaging one Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for Project entitled “Implementing Rhino DNA indexing system (RhoDIS) to counter Rhino poaching threat and aid population management in India (Phase-II)” purely on a contractual basis for a period of one year with possible extension up to three years. The EQ, DQ, and other details of these positions are provided below:

Position: Senior Research Fellow

No of Posts: 01

Duration: One year (originally) with a possible extension of up to 3 years.

Age: Not exceeding 32 years (as on 31st August 2021)

Mode of Selection and various other conditions:

  1. The selection of the candidates will certainly be in accordance with the performance in the interview as well as in the order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original documents must be produced at the time of the interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters associating with eligibility, work experience, acceptance, or rejection of the application will certainly be final as well as binding on the candidates, and also no inquiry or correspondence will certainly be entertained from any kind of individual.
  2. The candidates are required to submit their completed application forms in PDF format, with accompanying attachments, by email (with the subject line: “Application for the post of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the RhoDIS project to <[email protected]>, not later than 1700 hrs on 15.09.2021.
  3. Application forms need to be typed according to the prescribed format and should be
    accompanied by: (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and also (b) Scanned copies of experience letter/ certificate, failing which applications will not be taken into consideration.
  4. The applications received after the deadline and not given the prescribed format will be
    rejected.
  5. The essential, desirable qualifications will be used for shortlisting the candidates for the online interviews.
  6. The shortlisted candidates will be notified (through email and website notification) for an online personal interview by 20.09.2021. The interview will be held on 24.09.2021. from 1000 hrs onwards.
  7. At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has actually been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered.
  8. The positions advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will stand abolished after completion of the project.
  9. The tenure in the project will be governed by the Institute’s rules and regulations.
  10. Relaxation in Age will certainly be given according to Govt. of India norms
  11. The prescribed essential qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for an interview. The selection to the aforesaid post will be on the basis of a personal interview which will be conducted by a duly constituted Selection Committee. However, if the number of applications received for a particular post(s) is large, then Institute reserves the right to lay down any criteria for the purpose of shortlisting of the candidates for interview.
  12. Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature because of incomplete information provided by the applicant or for any other reason thereof.

Essential Qualification: Minimum of 60% marks in M.Sc. in Zoology, Wildlife
Science, Forestry, Life Science, and other biological sciences with a minimum of 3 years of research experience in the field of non-invasive molecular ecology/conservation genetics and publication in this field of research.

Desirable Qualification: Candidates with prior research experiences with molecular
work on faecal samples will be given preference.

Work Description: The selected candidate will be working on this project involving both field and laboratory research. The job involves conducting fieldwork to collect wild rhino samples, data generated from these as well as already collected samples, data curation, analysis and helping in report writing. The selected candidate will also require to work on
rhino forensic cases and help with the regular functioning of the project.

Emoluments: Rs.35,000 plus admissible HRA
