Job Description:
Amgen is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our Therapeutic Discovery team in Bengaluru, India to support integration of advanced research software with research lab operations enabling high throughput discovery and optimization of therapeutic molecules. It would be an onsite position to support Research Biologics team that is stationed at Syngene Amgen Research and Development Center (SARC), wherein Amgen Biologics team and Syngene are collaborating to generate protein reagents in support Amgen’s exciting product pipeline.
Primary responsibilities:
- Support the process flow associated with generating protein reagents by integrating research software and informatics solutions with lab operations.
- Enable an end to end process from request management to protein registration and ordering in support of Protein Technologies team at SARC.
- Activities towards this integration include (not limited to): Managing incoming protein requests, generation of database identifiers and records for projects, tracking lab activities around protein generation, data handling and uploading of certificate of analysis
- Support data analytics associated with informatics systems and collaborate with operations team to evaluate opportunities to improve process flow
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between multiple stakeholders (e.g. scientific area management, technical staff, R&D Informatics team and functional collaborators).
- Support training needs for users of Amgen’s drug discovery research software applications.
Basic Qualifications:
- M.Sc./ M. Tech. degree or equivalent & 2+ years of experience working with Research database applications or
- B. Sc./B.Tech. degree & 5+ years of experience working with Research database applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.Sc. / M.Tech. degree in Biological sciences, computer science or engineering
- 3+ years of experience in biochemistry or similar labs in the bio-pharmaceutical industry
- Basic understanding of protein production process (cloning, expression, purification and analytics)
- Experience working with research software, database applications and other research informatics and management tools
- Experience in data analytics and reporting by leveraging analytics, visualization and database technologies
- Successful experience working in a collaborative team environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
