Purpose of the role:
Field Application Scientist is a technical role and involves training customers and targeted applications. The FAS is also expected to support the sales team and the customer during the purchase process, to help the customer chose the most appropriate products for their projects. The FAS is expected to actively participate in various seminars, scientific discussions (pre & post-sale), proof of concept studies and product training for external & internal (Commercial team) customers.
Responsibilities
- Taking the lead in technical product specification, application and protocol optimization discussions with clients and prospects for the Cell Culture and Cell Therapy product portfolio in the Bioproduction Division (BPD) offering.
- Assist the commercial team in identifying customer opportunities, needs, determine the technical feasibility of custom media requests and media/process optimization opportunities in consultation with the Associate Technical Director APAC (CC & Analytics).
- Serving as the primary field-based technical interface to potential and existing BPD customers. Provide troubleshooting on issues that arise related to end-users technical skills, cell-line selection, experiment design and results of media development/optimization process for biologics as well as vaccine production.
- Using advanced and continually expanding knowledge of our Cell Culture and Cell Therapy products & services and the biopharmaceutical development & production process to provide effective recommendations to the customer on Cell-line selection, media selection and optimization, feed & process selection and optimization, and adoption of Gibco BioProduction Services.
- Participate in training programs for Commercial teams & internal staff and seminars to external customers to increase customer awareness of the cell culture product line & services, core competencies and increased technical skills of the BPD team.
- Making suggestions on how products can be improved, and also inform product management of new technologies that could complement our existing range from the perspective of identified customer needs. Introduction of the new product to the customer, converting the product from R&D scale to commercial scale.
Desired Experience:
- Postgraduate or PhD in Biotechnology, Biosciences with 5 -6 years relevant experience in Bioprocess Industry.
- Experience in handling cell line, maintenance, process optimization and scale-up.
Preferred Skills:
- Well versed in handling all cell type, culture, maintenance and propagation.
- Sound knowledge and hands-on experience in cell cloning and selection.
- Media screening, optimization and experience in process development for Vaccines or/and Monoclonal antibodies candidate
- Sound knowledge of product quality control, optimization and effect of it on quality and efficacy of molecules.
- Experimental design, data analysis and interpretation using available software
- Proficient presentation skills and ability to present across customer sites and conferences.
