Advt No.12/2020 : Appointment of a Graduate Trainee – Experimental Biologist in the lab of Dr. Shaon Chakrabarti on Contract Basis
Number of position: 1
Contract term: The position will be for 1 year based on a performance review after 3 months. At the end of the first year, there will be potential for extending the contract by one more year.
Age limit: 40

Job description:
We are looking for a candidate that has an interest in working on exciting problems in cell biology. Questions of interest will certainly be mostly centred around cell proliferation, in diverse contexts such as development as well as disease. The job responsibilities will certainly involve one or a combination of mammalian cell-culture, live and fixed cell microscopy and also molecular biology techniques. The candidate will be expected to work closely with theoretical biologists within the lab and also elsewhere to develop a quantitative understanding of the experimental data. If interested, the applicant will also have the opportunity to learn computational techniques for the analysis of the data being generated.
Qualification & Experience required:
- Any one of the following degrees: M.Sc. in any kind of branch of Science or MCA or B.Tech/ BE or M.Tech/ ME with aggregate 60% of marks from a recognized university.
- Prior experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques will certainly be favourably considered.
- Prior experience with techniques such as immunostaining as well as live/fixed-cell microscopy will be strongly preferred.
- Candidates with the capability to think quantitatively will be strongly favoured.
