OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) and DBT- Research Associateship (DBT-RA) National Program – Extension of Fellowship due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

Subject: Extension of Project Duration in Women Scientist Scheme (WOS-A & WOS-B) of
KIRAN Division due to COYID-19 pandemic.

Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India taking cognizance of COVID19 pandemic on planned research work of Fellows working under DBT-JRF and DBT-RA (National Program), has approved the extension of the tenure of the fellowship for a period of up to six months with 50% Fellowship (including HRA) to complete the research work originally planned and suffered due to lockdown.

2. The extension is applicable to Fellows working under DBT-JRF and DBT-RA (National Program) which were completed/will be completing tenure during 1st April to 30th September 2020. This will be a one-time measure and no further extension beyond the six months will be considered. Fellowship and HRA (wherever applicable) will be provided at 50% of existing rates during

the extension period but no contingency grant will be provided for this period.

3. Fellows who fulfil the above-mentioned criteria and wish to seek an extension of their fellowship tenure should submit the extension request with details of research work originally planned and affected due to lockdown forwarded by PhD Supervisor/DBT-RA Mentor to following coordinating agencies:

(i) DBT-JRF Program: Program Coordinator, Regional Centre for Biotechnology, NCR Biotech Science Cluster, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad-Gurugram Expressway, Faridabad – 121 001 (E mail: [email protected]).

(ii) DBT-RA Program: Program Coordinator, Department of Molecular Reproduction, Development & Genetics, Biological Sciences Building, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore-560 012 (Email: [email protected]).

5. This issues with the approval of Competent Authority.
