The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in IISER Kolkata is an introduction to cutting edge research. In both theoretical in addition to experimental topics IISER Kolkata tries to provide world-class training. The Institute provides Doctorate degree in the fields of Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, Physical and Earth Sciences.  Individual Department selects deserving applicants from the pool of candidates based on their academic backgrounds, research interests and their performance in the selection test (often an interview). The selection is conducted twice annually (ad goes public tentatively in the months of March and September). The candidates that has their own fellowships (for example, UGC/CSIR-NET, INSPIRE etc) might apply at any time of year. The Institute reserves the provision of offering rolling admission to such candidates. The candidates who don’t have their own fellowship should apply via the bi-annual selection procedure.

Qualification: Masters degree

Selection: Twice per Year

Research Areas: Biological, Chemical

, Geological, Mathematical and Physical Sciences.
