The FMI PhD programs offer students the chance to carry out cutting-edge biomedical research at a stimulating, highly global and collaborative setting. Affiliated with the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research and the University of Basel, the FMI provides interdisciplinary training and access to innovative technologies in the form of state-of-the-art technology platforms, including e.g. advanced microscopy, genomics, proteomics, protein structure and bioinformatics.
PhD students work collectively with internationally recognized scientists in the fields of epigenetics, neurobiology, and quantitative biology, developing their research projects together with their team leader. Along with guidance from their advisor, students will also be advised by their thesis committee members, as well as the FMI Dean of Students as well as the Guidance Counsellor who function to support their professional and academic development.
A broad range of theoretical and practical courses is available at both the FMI and the University of Basel (see also
