The objective of the Scholarship is to promote and reward students from India studying postgraduate coursework programs administered by the School of Chemistry & Molecular Biosciences at The University of Queensland.

Award value:

The value of this Scholarship is 50 percent of their tuition fees payable for the minimal number of units necessary to complete the program by the student who’s given the Scholarship, for every semester for which it’s held.

About the Award:

The objective of the Scholarship is to promote and reward students from India studying postgraduate coursework programs administered by the School of Chemistry & Molecular Biosciences at The University of Queensland.

The Senate may award up to four Scholarships every year on the recommendation of the

Associate Dean (Academic).

One of every 2 Scholarships shall be awarded to a student eligible to enroll in the Master of Biotechnology Research Extensive (24 unit or 32 unit) program.

The value of this Scholarship is 50 percent of the tuition fees payable for the minimal number of units necessary to complete the program by the student who’s given the Scholarship, for every semester for which it’s held.

Selection criteria:

(1) For the selection procedure, the Head has to establish a selection committee, containing a minimum of 3 directors of postgraduate coursework programs administered by the School of Chemistry & Molecular Biosciences. The Head will appoint a chairperson from those appointed to the selection committee.

(2) The Scholarship is given to the applicant showing greatest merit as shown by —

(a) academic achievement in undergraduate studies; and

(b) strength of interest demonstrated in the applicable area of postgraduate coursework study; and

(c) personal qualities, such as leadership potential; and

(d) any other matter which the selection committee considers to be applicable to this candidate’s potential professional achievement in the appropriate area of postgraduate coursework study.

(e) the selection committee will rank the best six candidates, along with the Associate Dean (Academic) will subsequently pick the successful candidate(s).

Eligibility:

An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship if the candidate –

(a) submits an application to the Head, by the final date for applications; and
(b) is a citizen of India; and
(c) attained a GPA (or overseas equivalent) of 80 percent over 7 semesters of undergraduate studies or 75 percent over 8 semesters of undergraduate studies at a higher education institution in India; and
(d) is able to commence as an international student in Australia on a student visa.

Terms & Conditions:

The recipient may hold the Scholarship for the Minimum Completion Time of the Approved Program, subject to the recipient –

(a) continuing to be registered full-time in the relevant program, unless otherwise exempted by the Head; and
(b) achieving a GPA of at least 4 for every semester of study where the recipient holds the scholarship; and
(c) resuming study following an approved interruption of up to 1 year, as approved by the Head; and
(d) being qualified to continue to maintain a student visa.
In the event the recipient fails to meet rule 6(1), the student has to show cause to the Associate Dean (Academic) why the Scholarship shouldn’t be cancelled.

The recipient may be needed by the Associate Dean (Academic) to pay the entire tuition fee of almost any course that’s repeated.

In this principle – Minimum Completion Time means the minimal period of time it might take a student to complete the rest of the program where the recipient is enrolled when the recipient is awarded the Scholarship.

How to Apply:

For applications for the first semester (March) enrolment, the closing date is 31 October each year.

For applications for second semester (July) enrolment, the closing date is 31 March each year.
