St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI) has announced the availability of two short term courses. Applications are invited from msc, mtech and btech life sciences and biotechnology candidates for the short-term courses. Check out all of the details on the same below:

The St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI) is a part of the St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, which is run by the CBCI Society for Medical Education. From its inception, St. John’s has set before it an ideal of excellence in academic courses as well as service to society as a result of which it has truly become holistic both in its outlook and in its approach to the problems of community health. The Nadathur lab for breast cancer research in the Division of Molecular Medicine, SJRI has been involved in investigating the biological basis of those aspects of breast cancer that are exaggerated in Indian
women. The department is now inviting applications for short term courses (theory, demo and hands on sessions) on;

1) GENE EXPRESSION ANALYSIS OF FORMALIN FIXED TISSUES
2) PROTEIN DETECTION METHODS BY IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY AND IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE ASSAYS

Training Theme/Objectives:

  1. Gene expression analysis of formalin fixed tissues
    : Includes basics of PCR, methods of primer design, extraction of nucleic acids, cDNA conversion, Real time PCR, normalization and interpretation of results.
  2. Protein detection methods by Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence: Tissue
    processing, immunohistochemistry of tissues, immunofluorescence on tissue and cell lines, imaging and interpretation.

Target Audience/Eligibility:

Candidates who have completed M.Sc in any branch of life sciences/ B.Tech/M.tech biotechnology/ MBBS/MD/ B. Pharm/M. Pharm can apply.

Each course is limited to 10 members only and selection is based on prescreening and merit. Candidates can apply for one or both the courses.

Course Fee: Rs.12000/- per each course

Dates:

Gene expression analysis by PCR: 10 contact classes between 15th September 2018 and 15th October 2018.

Protein detection methods by Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence: 10 contact classes between 22nd October 2018 and 20th November 2018.

Contact classes will be held on specified dates not exceeding 4 hours a day. The dates will be communicated to the candidates after the selection procedure.
