Konstanz Research School Chemical Biology (KoRS-CB) offers 14 scholarships for doctoral researchers. From 1 June to 15 July, the Konstanz Research School Chemical Biology (KoRS-CB) at the University of Konstanz is tendering scholarships for doctoral researchers. Fourteen interdisciplinary projects were created that lie at the interfaces between biology, chemistry and computer science. Successful applicants can receive a scholarship to begin their research starting on 1 October 2017. Scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), as part of the Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP), which will be offered simultaneously, can be awarded starting in 2018.
The Konstanz Research School Chemical Biology invites applications for fellowships for PhD students from highly motivated and enthusiastic young researchers with a keen interest in interdisciplinary topics and with an excellent degree (Master or Diploma) in Biology, Chemistry, Computational Life Science, or related areas.
The call is open from 01 June till 15 July 2017
We offers stipends financed by our graduate school with the starting date 1 October 2017, as well as stipends granted by the DAAD (Graduate School Scholarship Programme, GSSP) with individual starting dates in 2018.

Eligibility
To qualify for admission, you should hold a master’s degree (or equivalent) in biology, chemistry, life sciences, computer science, or related subjects. You should have finished your studies significantly above average, and have a proven interest in chemical biology.
Application Procedure

2) LOG IN to work on your application: please fill in your contact data and provide the following
- A maximum of three PhD projects chosen from the list of projects and ranked by your preference
- A motivation letter (max. 500 words)
- Contact details for two academic references (please note that we will contact them during the application process ourself)
- State where the call came first to your attention.
3) UPLOAD the following documents (in English or German):
- Curriculum vitae (only accepted in chronological order)
- Copy of your bachelor’s and master’s degree certificates (or equivalent) incl. transcripts of records
- Proven proficiency in English: at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required (Here you can find detailed information on acccepted certificates).
4) SUBMIT your application until 15 July 2017 at the latest!

How to finance your PhD
KoRS-CB Fellowship : The Konstanz Research School Chemical Biology offers scholarships (1.450 € monthly) up to three years for excellent applicants.
DAAD – Graduate School Scholarship Programme : Our Graduate School offers two scholarships per year funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to start in 2017 and 2018. The scholarships include all living costs as well as insurance and funds for research expenditures as well as travelling up to three years. The selection follows a two stage procedure: KoRS-CB will advertise application projects and nominates eligible candidates to the DAAD. The DAAD selection committee will award the scholarships.
Other fellowships : Interested applicants are also encouraged to apply to other institutions for funding. A wide range of public and private foundations offer postgraduate scholarships in Germany and also abroad. Employment : Employment in one of the participating departments, as a teaching assistant at an academic chair or as a research assistant within a research project, is a further possibility of financing. Tuition + cost of living
There are no tuition fees for doctoral students but the following contributions each term (summer/winter) as of February 2017:
- A contribution to the Student Services Seezeit (80 €),
- An administrative fee for services of the University administration (60 €),
- Student’s Union contribution (10 €).
