The National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, is a premier Institute of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes of both basic and applied nature across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits for the people of India. This Institute is engaged in R&D of five broad areas namely (i) Agroprocessing Technology, (ii) Microbial Process Technology, (iii) Chemical Science & Technology, (iv) Materials Science & Technology and (v) Environmental Technology. Position 1

Essential Educational qualification & Experience : M.E / M.Tech in Food Engineering/ Food Technology
Desirable Qualification & Experience :
- 1-2 years research experience in Food Processing/ Tech nology development in food pr ocessing industries
- Expertise in nutraceuti cals / functional foods formulations and validation including food safety protocols.
- Experience in product/ process development including Scale-up and pilot plant studies
Job Specification : To work effectively towards technology development/ technology transfer as a team member and new knowledge generation in the area of fictional food.
Position 2
Designation : Scientist GP 6600/- 32yrs

Essential Educational qualification & Experience : M.Sc in Microbiology (non medical scheme) and Ph.D (submitted)
Desirable Qualification & Experience :
- Expertise in classical microbiology and molecular techniques for microbial identification, strain improvement and process development for submerged and solid state fermentation
- Experience in microbial product manufacturing industry.
Job Specification : The selected candidate will have to work in developing new and existing microbial processes and product development programs
Position 3
Designation : Scientist GP 6600/- 32yrs

Essential Educational qualification & Experience : MSc in Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/Genetic Engineering and Ph.D in molecular biology/Genetic Engineering (submitted)
Desirable Qualification & Experience :
- Experience in metabolic engineering, HT methods of screening, molecular biology techniques, protein biology and proteomics.
- knowledge on gene regulation concepts and signal transduction
- Experience in product/ process development including Scale-up and pilot plant studies
Job Specification : The selected candidate will have to work on cell factory optimizations. The work involves targeted gene /protein engineering through genetic modification of the organisms directed towards microbial process development
Position 4
Designation : Principal Scientist GP 8700/- 45yrs

Essential Educational qualification & Experience : M.Sc in Life Science/ Biochemistry and Ph.D in Molecular cell biology with 3 years experience
Desirable Qualification & Experience :
- Experience in modelling human diseases using in vitro cell culture and in vivo animal models, analysis of disease mechanisms to identify drug target leading to drug design.
- Experience in gene profiling, RNAseq to identify drug targets & molecular imaging techniques and cell biology
- Expertise in evaluating industrially relevant products, herbal preparations and molecular drugs as health remedies
Job Specification : The selected candidate will have to lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated for the development of products/ technologies based on phytochemicals Design and execution of projects on development of disease models for testing and evaluating efficacy of new herbal products, formulations, and P & P products Creation of Biological instrumental facilities and development of high through put screening methods.

f. The candidates belonging to Women/SC/ST/PwD/CSIR employees are exempted from
submission of application fee.
g. Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate online applications and application fees.
h. In case of Universities/Institute awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA grades etc., candidates are
requested to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their
university/Institute.
i. Application fees once paid will not be refunded on any count nor can it be held in reserve from any other recruitment or selection process.
