The National Center for Genomic Analysis (CNAG) based at Barcelona Science Park (PCB) is offering PhD Fellowship in Structural Genomics for International Students in Spain, 2017
The CNAG-CRG is one of the major Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe with a park of thirteen second generation DNA sequencers supported by an extensive informatics infrastructure.
The CNAG-CRG is actively involved in collaborative research projects on a number of specific topics: Disease Gene Identification, Cancer Genomics, Genomics of Infectious Diseases, Model Organism Genomics and Synthetic Biology Genomics. In addition, we participate in several consortia of networked projects such as the International Cancer Genome Consortium (www.icgc.org), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (www.ihec-epigenomes.org) and the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (www.irdirc.org) and EU-funded projects such as RD-CONNECT, AIRPROM, ESGI, BLUEPRINT, IBD-Character, BBMRI-LPC, 4DGenome and MuG.
The CNAG-CRG seeks a talented young student with a strong background in bioinformatics for the Structural Genomics Team (http://marciuslab.org) working on modeling the 3D chromosomal structure in beta cells to identify genetic mechanisms underlying type 2 diabetes. This post will be funded by La Marató de TV3.
The successful candidate will report to the Structural Genomics Group Leader.
Responsibilities:
1.Development and implementation in TADbit of a module for analysis and
modeling 4C-Seq data.2. Will apply the newly develop methods to study the 3D conformation of chromosomes in beta cells.
Requirements:
1. Master degree in Bioinformatics or a related field.
2. Demonstrated experience in Bioinformatics analysis.
3. Knowledge of 3C related techniques will be a plus.
Course Level: Fellowship is available to pursue PhD programme.
Scholarship Award: Fellowship for 3 years with a PhD salary as for CNAG-CRG’s scale.
Nationality: International applicants are eligible to apply for this fellowship.
Admission Requirement
- Entrance Requirements: Master degree in Bioinformatics or a related field.
- English language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.
