Situated at Madurai in Tamil Nadu, the Centre for Research in Medical Entomology (CRME), conducts research on various medico-entomological disciplines especially ecology, physiology, molecular biology, taxonomy, serology and control of vector-borne diseases such as Japanese encephalitis, lymphatic filariasis, dengue, chikungunya and malaria. The institute has three field stations, one each in Trikoilur, Vridhachalam and Chennai.

Qualification:
Essential:
First class Master’s degree in Life Science, Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology or Microbiology from a recognized university
OR
Second class M. Sc. and Ph.D. degree in one of the above subjects from a recognized university
Desirable:
Two years or more R&D teaching experience in molecular entomology, ecological genetics, parasite genomics, molecular epidemiology of vector borne diseases, genetics of insect behaviour, functional genomics, gene editing technologies after obtaining one of the above mentioned essential qualifications.
Ph.D. or M. Tech degree in molecular entomology or molecular parasitology
Knowledge of computer applications and handling of bioinformatics
tools, especially DNA sequence data analysisHigh quality research publications in internationally reputed journals
Job Requirements:
To plan, formulate and carry out research work on dengue, chikungunya, malaria and other vector borne diseases and carry out field research work and any other work assigned by the Director
Age Limit: Should not exceed 35 years {Relaxable up to 5 years for applicants working in government organizations in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) from time to time in this regard}

First class Master’s degree in Zoology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or Bioinformatics from a recognized University
OR
Second class M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in one of the above subjects from a recognized university
Four years of R&D or teaching experience in molecular aspects of malaria, dengue, chikungunya and other vector borne diseases from a recognized institute or university after obtaining one of the above degrees
Desirable:
Ph.D or M.Tech in the field of malaria, dengue, chikungunya or other vector borne diseases with several research publications in high impact journals as first author
Additional postdoctoral research or teaching experience from recognized institute in molecular population genetics, bioinformatics or DNA sequence data analysis
Knowledge of computer applications and handling of bioinformatics tools or data analysis
Experience in handling and analyzing genomic data, comparative genomics, phylogenetics, molecular taxonomy as evidenced by high quality publications
Job Requirement:
To plan, formulate and carry out research work on malaria, dengue, chikungunya and other vector-borne diseases, to supervise research work and carry out any other work assigned by the Director
Age Limit: Should not exceed 40 years {Relaxable up to 5 years for applicants working in government organizations in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) from time to time in this regard}
General Instructions:
Ph.D. degree in the subjects mentioned above shall be treated equivalent to three-years research experience
Candidates with Ph.D. or M. Tech degree will be preferred for direct recruitment
Candidates called for an interview will be paid 2nd class air fare (from home town to madurai) by the shortest route on production of travel documents
Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection or recruitment shall be treated as disqualification
Both the scientific positions are with all India transfer liability under ICMR
Experienced and meritorious candidates may be granted higher pay scale on recommendation of the Selection Committee

- SC / ST / women and physically handicapped candidates are exempted from the application fee. Indian scientists working abroad are exempted from application fee. Existing ICMR employees are not exempted from application fee
