HIMALAYAN FELLOWSHIPS UNDER THE NATIONAL MISSION ON HIMALAYAN STUDIES (NMHS) PROGRAMME
(HIMALAYAN RESEARCH ASSOCIATES AND HIMALAYAN RESEARCH FELLOWS)
Interested and eligible candidates are are requested to appear before the selection committee on 26-05- 2016 at 11 AM for the following posts for Himalayan fellowship “Lepidoptera (Insecta) as potential indicator – Taxa for tracking climate change in the Indian Himalayan Landscape” under NMHS programme at the Zoological Survey of India, Head quaters, M- Block New Alipore Kolkata- 700053, West Bengal, India.
Position 1
Job Title : Himalayan Research Associate
No of Posts : 3
- RA-I : Rs.36,000
- RA-II : Rs. 38,000
- RA-III : Rs. 40,000] +HRA
Educational Qualification : M. Sc. & PhD Zoology/Life Sciences equivalent
Age: up to 40 years
Desirable Qualification : Prior work experience in the Indian Himalayan Region/ Knowledge / experience / interest in taxonomy/ecology/DNA Barcoding/Molecular phylogeny/climate change with at least one publication in SCI journal. Science writing and communication skills

Job Title : Himalayan Research Fellow
No of Posts : 10
Salary : [JRF Rs. 16,000 for first two years and SRF Rs. 18,000 (after two
years & fulfilling requirements)] + HRAEducational Qualification : M. Sc. Zoology/ Life Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized Univer Age: up to 28 years
Desirable Qualification : Prior work experperience in the Indian Himalay yan Rean Region/ Experience /knowledge/intererest on field data collection fortion for fauna/taxonomy/DNA Barcoding/ Mol/ Molececular Phylogeny/ Ecology/GIS/ Cl Climate change
Description of Work:
These positions involve studies on on taxonomy, ecology, phylogeny, role of of climate change on the Lepidoptera diversity and distribution ribution in different Himalayan Biogeographic Provinces. Provinces. This also includes generation and analysis of molecular r data to resolving species complexes, inter and and intra specific variations and phylogenetic studies. For more details Click Here
Note :
- Desirable qualifications are only indicative in nature. In case of exceptional candidates, these may be relaxed
- UGC/CSIR NET JRF/GATE qualified candidates would be awarded fellowship in line with DST while otherwise competent/ suitable candidate above which are likely to be amended as per ZSI norms.
Duration : Initially upto March 2017, may be extended for further period(s) based on satisfactory performance of individual and funding.
