Position Details
- Position Title: Junior Research Fellow
- No. of Posts: 01
- Location: Prof. Krishna B. S. Swamy’s laboratory at Ahmedabad University
- Project Title: Unraveling the Role of Interspecies Interactions in the Shift from Commensalism to Pathogenesis during Dual-Species Candidiasis
- PI: Prof. Krishna B. S. Swamy
- Funding Agency: ANRF–ARG funded project.
- Duration: 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance.
Project Overview
Candida species are common members of the human microbiota but can become
opportunistic pathogens under specific conditions. This project aims to understand how interactions between different Candida species influence their evolution, fitness, and transition from commensalism to pathogenesis. The research combines experimental evolution, fungal genetics, microbiology, host– pathogen interaction studies, microscopy, flow cytometry, genomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics to uncover the molecular basis of dual-species candidiasis.
Responsibilities
- Lab organization and maintenance
- Experimental evolution and co-culture assays using multiple Candida species
- Fungal genetics, molecular biology, and microbiology experiments
- Flow cytometry, microscopy, and phenotypic analyses
- Multi-omics data generation and bioinformatics analyses
- Collaborative research with investigators at Ahmedabad University and IIT Bombay
Essential Qualifications
- First Class Master’s degree (≥60%) in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related Life Sciences.
- CSIR-UGC NET, DBT-JRF, GATE, or any equivalent national eligibility qualification is mandatory.
- Prior experience working with yeast or fungal model organisms is desirable but not essential.
Fellowship
- Years 1–2: ₹37,000/month + HRA (₹11,000/month)
- Year 3: ₹42,000/month + HRA (₹12,600/month)
How to Apply?
