Job Overview:
We are looking for a motivated Process Design Engineer to support the design and development of biopharmaceutical equipment. The role involves engineering calculations, equipment selection, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and compliant process systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select appropriate components for biopharma equipment based on process requirements, material compatibility, and regulatory standards
- Estimate and calculate utility requirements such as water, air, and power consumption
- Perform process calculations, including KLA (Oxygen Transfer Coefficient) and OTR (Oxygen Transfer Rate)
- Prepare a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement and integration in SAP
- Conduct line sizing calculations considering flow rates, pressure drops, and fluid properties
- Perform thermal design calculations for heat exchangers to ensure efficient heat transfer
- Select suitable pumps and process equipment based on system requirements
- Prepare detailed technical datasheets for all selected components
- Review and provide technical clearance of vendor/supplier specifications
- Collaborate with testing and qualification teams to troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues
- Maintain proper documentation, including design calculations, reports, and specifications
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of bioprocess engineering jobs
- Knowledge of biopharmaceutical equipment and systems
- Hands-on experience in process calculations and equipment sizing
- Familiarity with SAP (BOM preparation) is an added advantage
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior exposure to biopharma/pharmaceutical process design
- Experience in equipment design, validation, or qualification processes
