- Department: Biosciences and Bioengineering
- Project Title: “Genome Editing and Genetic Engineering for Improvement in Aroma, Drought Tolerance, and Yield of Kola Joha”
- Location: Guwahati, Assam
1. Junior Research Fellow (GATE)
- Number of Vacancies: 02
- Pay: ₹31,000 + 18% HRA (Total ₹36,580/month)
- Duration of Appointment in months: 6 months
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences OR Graduate/Postgraduate Degree in Professional Courses.
- Must qualify through national-level examinations such as CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or other equivalent central government agency tests (DST, DBT, DRDO, ICMR, IISc, IISER, etc.).
- Preferred Experience: Hands-on expertise in Plant Molecular Biology, Rice Tissue Culture, and Phenotyping.
2. Project Assistant
- Number of Vacancies: 01
- Pay: ₹20,000 + 18% HRA (Total ₹23,460/month)
- Duration of Appointment in months: 6 months
Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Life Sciences with practical experience in plant tissue culture and rice plant hardening.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in genome editing and phenotyping experiments related to rice improvement.
- Maintain tissue culture setups and ensure reproducibility of experimental results.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific data and reports within the R&D project framework.
- Support ongoing departmental research initiatives at IIT Guwahati, contributing to your long-term IIT Guwahati career growth.
