Job Role: Cytogenetics Technologist / Staff Scientist

Qualifications:
• M.Sc. in Cytogenetics, Genetics, Biotechnology, or related Life Sciences.
• Minimum 1 to 1.5 years of hands-on experience in a cytogenetics laboratory.
Technical Skills:
• Skilled in karyotyping and chromosomal banding techniques (e.g., G-banding).
• Strong working knowledge of FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) protocols and result interpretation.
• Familiarity with cell culture, metaphase spread preparation, and harvesting.
• Proficient in cytogenetics imaging software (e.g., MetaSystems, Applied Spectral Imaging).
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct chromosomal analysis on peripheral blood, bone marrow, and prenatal samples.
• Prepare and process samples for FISH, including probe hybridization and imaging.
• Analyze metaphase and interphase cells using microscopy and software tools.
• Document and report findings accurately under senior supervision.
• Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and accreditation requirements.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment and update QC logs regularly.
• Follow biohazard safety and infection control protocols rigorously.
• Collaborate with genetic counselors, pathologists, and other lab teams for integrated diagnostics.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
