Merck Expands Indian Workforce as Part of Its Growth Strategy
Drugmaker Merck, known as MSD outside of the U.S. and Canada, is set to increase its workforce across India. According to a senior executive, the company aims to increase the number of employees across its various sites in the country by the end of the year.
Dave Williams, the Executive Vice President at Merck, highlighted the company’s ambitious hiring plans at the BioAsia conference in Telangana. By the end of this year, they expect to have roughly 2,700 employees. Williams stated, “In the next couple of years, I fully expect we’ll double that number or more.” Merck is committed to expanding its presence in India.

Currently, Merck’s Indian operations employ approximately 1,800 people, working with multiple therapy areas, including oncology, diabetes, vaccines, and animal health. The company has also invested in technology-driven initiatives, with dedicated digital and technology-related centers supporting its global operations.
