Advertisement for one Junior Research Fellow position in SERB sponsored research project at the Department of Life Sciences
Applications are invited from motivated Indian citizens for a JRF position in Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Govt. of India sponsored research project entitled, “Characterization and Design of Transcription Factors as Optoswitches: Bringing Light to Gene Expression” under the supervision of Dr. Devrani Mitra, the principal investigator (PI).
Eligibility:
a) M.Sc. or equivalent (any branch of Biology with interest in Biochemistry/Biophysics) with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade;
b) Qualification in the National Eligibility Test (NET) at the LS level or Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE)
Fellowship Duration: 3 years (initial appointment for 1 year, which can be extended annually till the end of the project, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds)
Stipend and other allowances: 31,000 INR + 24% HRA per month for JRF, as per SERB norms

University, Kolkata.Note:
- The candidate must email their a) latest CV including contact phone number and names of two referees, and b) statement of interest to the PI ([email protected]) on or before June 28th, 2024. The candidates are also required to bring hard copies of their application along with self-attested copies of their mark sheets/certificates, during the time of interview.
- The selected candidate may be allowed to enroll for Ph.D. program later subject to satisfactory work progress and essential qualification of NET (LS), as per university rules.
- No application will be considered after due date.
- No TA/DA will be given to the candidates for the interview.
