Core Purpose of the Role: We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic mammalian cell culture scientist at Senior Research Associate level to join the mammalian cell culture group in the Protein tech – SARC Biology, a multidisciplinary team with capabilities in molecular cloning, expression and purification of proteins, including antibodies, bispecific and microbially expressed proteins. The ideal candidate will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity, and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.

Accountabilities as a Syngene Leader (only for Leadership Hires)

Specific requirements for this role

Experience: 3 to 6 yrs

Skills and Capabilities:

Required Technical Qualification:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with mammalian cell culture technologies and theory.
  • Experience in stable and transient transfection for recombinant protein/antibody expression is a must. Should have worked with and maintained a variety of mammalian cell lines, such as CHO, HEK etc. Well-versed with aseptic techniques required to work in a cell culture laboratory.
  • Perform adherent and suspension cell culture, support upstream process development and process characterization activities.
  • Should have experience working with Wave bioreactors and good knowledge of feed optimization.
  • Experience in cell culture media and feed development and running pilot-scale bioreactor is a plus. Also desirable is knowledge and experience in baculovirus-based insect cell expression.
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry (FACS), western blot, automated – cell imaging system, basic antibody characterization assays, and high throughput screening.
  • Should be able to design, execute and troubleshoot on cell culture, transfection related and cell line generation projects.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Work according to established Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and regulatory guidance.

Education:

MSc./M.Tech in biotechnology, cell biology, biochemistry, or similar scientific fields.
