Interested and eligible candidates are requested to appear before the selection committee on 28th March, 2024 at 11:00 AM for the post of Junior Research Fellow (01) in the project “Diversity and Distribution Pattern of Ground-Dwelling Spiders (Arachnida: Araneae) along the Elevation Gradients in Meghalaya” funded by SERB, DST, Govt. of India, New Delhi at the Zoological Survey of India, Head Qtrs., ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053, West Bengal, India.

Details of the project:

Project Name: “Diversity and Distribution Pattern of Ground-Dwelling Spiders (Arachnida: Araneae) along the Elevation Gradients in Meghalaya”.

Funding Agency: SERB, DST, Govt. of India

Project Duration: Initially up to one year, may be extended for further period(s) based on satisfactory performance of individual and funding.

Eligibility:

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 01 Arachnida Section ZSI, Kolkata Master degree in Zoology/ Life Science from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks. Research experience in taxonomy, systematics, ecology; experience in undertaking field survey; knowledge of computer and basic field data collection. Preferably NET (LS), GATE qualified. Rs. 31000/- + Admissible HRA (As per rules) per month for NET(LS)/GATE/any national level examination qualified candidates. Rs. 20,000/- + Admissible HRA (As per rules) per month for other candidates.

 

Age limit: Age shall not be more than 28 years as on 28.03.2024. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of applicants belonging to scheduled Castes/Tribes/OBC-Non Creamy Layer/Physically Handicapped candidates as per Govt. of India rules.

General Instructions:

  1. The above posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
  2. Candidates appearing for the walk-in-interview are required to register from 10 AM-12:15 PM on the day of the interview at Zoological Survey of India, ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053.
  3. Candidates should bring the duly filled-in application with self-attested true copies of testimonials of qualifications, experience, date of birth etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.
  4. The offer of appointment to the candidates will be on purely contractual basis for one year initially and it may be extended for further period(s) based on further project extension and satisfactory performance of the candidate.
  5. The selected candidates need to join immediately or at a short notice.
  6. No TA/DA will be provided to the candidates for appearing for the interview.

  9. Incomplete application forms/applications with misrepresented facts will not be considered.
  10. Any kind of paid or honorary, part-or-full-time employment or private practice even in honorary capacity is not permissible during the tenure of fellowship.
  11. ‘No Objection Certificate’ from present employer to be submitted during the interview (if employed).
  12. The Director, Zoological Survey of India reserves the right to selection or rejection of any candidature and cancellation of the walk-in-interview.
