Satavic Innovations Private Limited is a start-up Biotech company with seasoned veterans in academia and industry as co-founders, strong scientific foundation in developing innovative protein therapeutics, funded by BIRAC to achieve proof-of-concept for its lead cancer immunotherapy candidate, and is incubated in Manipal GoK Bioincubator in MAHE, Manipal campus with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure.

Job Description

Title: Research Scientist

Location: Manipal, Karnataka

Satavic Innovations is seeking a Scientist with a strong background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cell biology to lead its efforts in developing novel protein therapeutics. You will work independently in applying your technical skills and scientific knowledge in generating and evaluating protein therapeutic candidates. This role necessitates exceptional self-motivation and interpersonal skills with razor focus on goals in a start-up mode within a Bioincubator set-up to achieve results.

Responsibilities:

• Design recombinant gene constructs and generate expression vectors
• Mammalian cell culture, transfection, protein expression and purification
• Biochemical characterization of proteins including ELISA, western blotting, SPR, column chromatography etc.
• Cell based assays including reporter-based assays, primary PBMC based functional assays etc.
• Effective documentation, analysis of experimental details and results in compliance with industry standards
• Generation of research/study reports, effective oral presentation of experimental results, and contribute to external presentations and publications

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

• A Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology or any other relevant discipline in biological sciences is preferred
• An MSc/MTech with 2-3 years of highly relevant experience will also be considered
• Proficiency in basic molecular biology and protein chemistry techniques such as gene cloning, isolation of DNA/RNA, agarose gel electrophoresis, qPCR, qRT-PCR, protein purification, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, ELISA, SPR is a must.
• Proficiency in basic cell culture techniques such as culturing, maintaining, freezing, thawing of CHO cells, cancer cell lines, PBMCs; setting up cell-based assays such as reporter based activity assays, PBMC based functional assays etc. is a must
• Familiarity with advanced techniques such as protein characterization using column chromatography techniques, flow cytometry, general knowledge about in vivo mouse tumor models etc. is a plus
• Strong work ethic, honesty and integrity are must
• Proven ability to independently design, conduct, and analyse experiments is a must
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are desirable
• Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced small company environment; adept at independent work and adaptability to evolving research priorities
