About the Role
Role Title: Curation Expert
Location: Hyderabad, India
Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a Curation Expert to join our Research Informatics (NX) team. In this role, you will curate external and internal large and complex datasets to accelerate data science and improve data integration and analysis. Collaboration with ontology experts and developing vocabularies will be crucial to your curation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with NIBR scientists, data scientists, data architects, and product owners to validate, cleanse, normalize, harmonize, or enrich large-scale experimental data
- Raise awareness of data standards and best practices for data management, improving overall data quality
- Utilize ontologies and terminologies to aid in disambiguation, semantic integration, and organization of biomedical data sets
- Contribute to the implementation of automated or semi-automated curation services and well-documented rule sets
- Solve complex data modeling and integration problems
- Provide expert advice on text or data mining techniques for structured or unstructured content integration
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree or similar qualification in a drug discovery domain such as medicine, chemistry, biology, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in data curation and management
- Work experience in drug discovery or a core supporting scientific field
- Broad knowledge of existing biomedical ontologies and data standards
- Demonstrated experience in curating and integrating data related to medical science, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, or genomics
- Basic proficiency in linguistics, natural language processing, text analytics, or data mining
- Ability to query data management systems of different kinds
- Knowledge of scripting languages is advantageous
