Job Overview
This non-supervisory scientific position in the Small Molecules Department (SM) is responsible for supporting the development of monographs for small molecular-weight pharmaceuticals. The role includes workflow prioritization and management for a team of Scientific Liaisons, as well as providing regular reports on team progress to Directors and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Track and manage workflow, including communication with cross-functional teams and other departments
- Provide information for strategy implementation and departmental goals
- Redesign existing monographs using analytical chemistry knowledge
- Collaborate with a team of scientists on standards development and revision
- Work with regulatory agencies, collaborators, and other pharmacopeias
- Support the preparation of manuscripts for publication
- Collaborate with various departments on monograph-related issues
- Regularly meet with other Pharmacopeial Specialists to monitor progress and identify challenges
- Contribute to maintaining a positive and collaborative team culture
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Pharmacopeial Specialist
- MSc in Chemistry or a relevant scientific field
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience with USP-NF tests and standards; or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field with a minimum 0 to 1 year
- Experience with analytical techniques such as chromatography, wet chemistry, spectroscopy, and titration in a laboratory setting
Senior Pharmacopeial Specialist
- MSc in Chemistry or a relevant scientific field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with USP-NF tests and standards; or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field with a minimum 1-2 years
- Experience with analytical techniques such as chromatography, wet chemistry, spectroscopy, and titration in a laboratory setting
Desired Preferences
While not requirements or disqualifications, the ideal candidate may possess additional preferred levels of expertise to perform the role.
