CSIR – Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, a constituent National Laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of 01 (One) position of JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW tenable at the Department of Biochemistry, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, Karnataka.

Name of the Project – “A greener processed ayurvedic formulation (Phyllanthus niruri, Tinospora cordifolia and Boerhaavia diffusa) for liver cancer management” (GAP-0631)

Duration – Initially for a period of 01 Year (Project duration for 3 Years) or till the project is over on a temporary contractual

basis.

Terms & Conditions –

1. Candidates should not have exceeded 28 years of age as of 26-04-2023 i.e. the last date of receiving the applications.
2. The engagement of the JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW is exclusively for the above-mentioned research work.
3. The engagement will be contractual and purely on a temporary basis for a period of 08 Months or a co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.
4. The engagement under the externally funded project does not confer any right/claim whatsoever either explicitly or implicitly on the appointee for regular appointment in CSIR-CFTRI, against any post or otherwise under any legal conditions precedent.
5. Performance of the Project Staff will be reviewed every six months. In case the performance is not satisfactory, the fellowship could be terminated with one month’s notice or one month’s stipend in lieu thereof.
6. No TA/DA will be given to the candidates for attending the interview.
7. If already the candidate is working in CSIR-CFTRI “No objection certificate” from the PI is mandatory at the time of the interview.

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc./ M.Tech in Life Sciences with NET/ GATE qualification (Preferably in Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Agricultural Science & Technology/ Food Science & Technology).

Emoluments – Rs.31,000/- (Rupees Thirty One Thousand only) plus 18% HRA per month.

1. Can you tell us about your educational background and research experience in the relevant field of Life Sciences? Answer: I have completed my M.Sc/M.Tech in Life Sciences with a specialization in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Agricultural Science & Technology/ Food Science & Technology. I also have research experience in the same field.
2. What is your understanding of the research project mentioned in the job description? How do you plan to contribute to the project? Answer: The research project is focused on developing a greener processed ayurvedic formulation for liver cancer management using Phyllanthus niruri, Tinospora cordifolia, and Boerhaavia diffusa. My plan is to contribute by conducting research experiments, analyzing data, and assisting in the preparation of research reports.
3. Can you discuss your experience with molecular biology techniques? Answer: I have experience with techniques such as DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and Western blotting.
4. How do you plan to manage your time effectively to meet the project’s deadlines? Answer: I plan to prioritize my work based on the project timeline, keeping in mind the critical experiments and milestones. I also plan to communicate regularly with my team members and the project leader to ensure that the project is progressing as per the schedule.
5. Can you discuss a research project you have worked on that required you to overcome a significant challenge? How did you overcome it? Answer: During my previous research project, we encountered a problem with our experimental design, which resulted in inaccurate results. We had to redesign our experiments and ensure that we covered all the necessary parameters. We also analyzed the data multiple times to confirm our findings. Eventually, we were able to overcome the challenge and achieve the desired results.
