Applications are invited from eligible candidates, for filling up two posts of Junior Research Fellow on a contract basis for the ICMR-funded project “Leveraging One Health systems for enhanced laboratory surveillance for rabies” under Dr. Reeta S. Mani, Principal Investigator, Professor & Head of Neurovirology, NIMHANS, Bangalore
Post I
Name of the Post – Junior Research Fellow-1 (JRF-1)
No. of Posts – 01
Name of the PI – Dr. Reeta S. Mani
Maximum Age limit – 28 years
Duration of the post – 3 years. The initial appointment will be made for a period of 12 months, which will be extended every 12 months for three years (or till the end of the project) depending upon the performance
of the candidate.Emoluments – Rs.31,000/- pm + 27% HRA
Essential Qualifications
- Masters in Life Sciences (Virology/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/ Bioinformatics/ Neurosciences or related subjects)
- Qualified national level examination conducted by ICMR/CSIR/UGC/ DBT/DST or equivalent.
Desirable Qualification
Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience of
- NGS techniques for sequencing of viruses and NGS data analysis (bioinformatics)
- Experience working in BSL 2 laboratory
- Performing laboratory assays like ELISA and Real-time PCR
- Mammalian cell culture techniques
- Maintenance of project records in laboratories, Documentation, Computer skills.

- Postgraduate Degree in Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics etc)
- Qualified national level examination conducted by ICMR/CSIR/UGC/ DBT/DST or equivalent.

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience of
- Molecular techniques (PCR, Real-Time PCR and downstream applications)
- Immunological techniques
- Virus sequencing techniques and bioinformatics
- Mammalian cell culture techniques, isolation of viruses
- Rabies diagnostic techniques
- Experience working in BSL 2 laboratory
- Maintenance of project records in laboratories, Documentation, Computer skills

Microbiology, Veterinary College, KVAFSU, Hebbal, Bangalore

Answer: I believe in maintaining detailed and accurate records of all my experiments and data analysis, which includes maintaining a lab notebook and recording all data in electronic format. I am also skilled in using various software tools for documentation and data management.
